What an interesting and eye-opening history lesson. Thank you, Will. Of course, it is more quaint than relevant as the China/Iran/Russian triumviarate will soon dominate world trade and all oil transactions.

After WWI when they were unable to pay off the existing historians of the country they decided that what they needed to do was to "build their own stable of historians" the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace & the Rockefeller Foundation approached the Guggenheim Foundation to offer fellowships to men "of the right caliber" who were going for doctorates in American History. They eventually assembled 20 potential teachers of American history & flew them to London where they were briefed on what was expected of them. That group of 20 "historians" became the nucleus of the American Historical Association. Whose 7 volume study which came to the conclusion that "the United States would become collectivist with characteristics of American efficiency."
In 1909 the first order of business of the Carnegie Endowment "for International Peace" was how to get the United States into a war by gaining control of the diplomatic machinery & the State Department of the country.
