While it's true that both Mueller and Comey were deeply corrupt, the agency was dominated until his death by the likes of J. Edgar Hoover, who blackmailed national politicians, infiltrated progressive groups, participated in the murder of black radicals, considered MLK to be a threat to the United States, coddled the KKK, and persecuted homosexuals, among his many acts of integrity

While Friend is certainly to be commended for his whistleblowing, the FBI was not "corrupted" from a gold standard that it never possessed in the first place. It remained Hoover's agency without Hoover, having evolved in the first place from its birth as a radical hunting police-state squad in the blighted era of the Palmer raids.
Yes, I know people in the FBI who certainly don't support the current agenda of the bureau. They love the work, but don't support the agendas. Kind of like the rest of us!
I am sure most of the rank a file agents are good people and honest civil servants, but they cross the line when they obey unlawful orders. "Enemies foreign and domestic" not political adversaries.
