Princeton History
Princeton holds a seat on Gibson county, which was formed in 1813. With the establishment of the Indiana territory in 1800, many settlers moved to the southwest of the territory, where Princeton is now located; the shift was due to the rich farmlands as well as the area's proximity to the Ohio River. The city got its name from William Prince, an Irishman who immigrated to the area and later on became a Gibson county Commissioner. Princeton was officially incorporated as a city in 1818.

PRINCETON — Demolition of the former University Medical Center in Princeton has hit the halfway mark and remains on schedule for completion in about three months, officials said this week.
"Demolition is proceeding on schedule, and we have not had any surprises," said Ron Ladell, senior vice president of AvalonBay.
When all of the hospital buildings are razed, developer AvalonBay plans to build 280 housing units — 56 affordable — on the Witherspoon Street site.
Demolition of the hospital site began the morning of Sept. 22 as crews dismantled a one-story hospital building closest to the parking garage on Henry Avenue.
